I heard about this book on a podcast that’s co-hosted by the author “Weird Things“. They were pushing it pretty hard and I just sort of ignored it, then they had one of the co-hosts read the first chapter or so. I bought it before he was done reading.
The book is about a wild animal killing people on a planet that is willfully stuck in the nineteenth century. A renowned biologist, who happens to be the greatest hunter in the galaxy, is hired to track down and kill the animal. The adventure that followed made it very hard to put my Kindle down.
It’s a fairly straightforward and easy plot, but it’s a great read. Reminded me of some of the older adventure and science fiction books I read as a kid. I would really love to read more books set in this universe.
At ninety-nine cents you really can’t go wrong buying “The Grendel’s Shadow”. It didn’t take me very long to read (it’s equal to 115 pages) and made a long flight to Canada a lot more pleasant.
